ARTHUR
JOHNSTON


Arthur S. Johnston, III is currently a Senior Policy Analyst with the Regional Educational Laboratory at SERVE housed in the Mississippi Department of Education. An advisor to Mississippi's State Superintendent of Education, Mr. Johnston is a former shareholder and director in the Jackson, Mississippi law firm of Daniel Coker Horton & Bell, P. A. As a litigator, his practice concentrated exclusively on the defense of employers, corporations, and individuals in workers' compensation, bad faith, and personal injury matters. Mr. Johnston graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1993 where he served as an Associate Editor of the Mississippi Law Journal. Mr. Johnston is also a 1989 graduate of Delta State University, where he majored in Political Science. While at DSU, he served as SGA President, was elected Mr. DSU, and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Alpha Order.

He is presently a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers' Association, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Assisi Early Learning Center and R.E.A.L. Christian Foundation, Inc. He also works as a volunteer with Stewpot Community Services of Jackson.

Johnston presently serves as the President of the Delta State University Alumni Association and in 1997 received the Kent Wyatt Young Alumnus Service Award. He currently serves as Co-chairman, along with Dr. Wyatt, of the DSU Foundation's Task Force on Planned Giving.

Johnston is married to the former Beverly Bowman of Brookhaven, and he is the proud father of two daughters, Abby Elizabeth Johnston, 4, and Anna Bowman Johnston, 1. The Johnstons are members of Christ United Methodist Church and make their home in Madison, Mississippi, where Beverly currently serves as the Principal of Madison Station Elementary School.
